2020 Benjamin Leroux Gevrey Chambertin

94 POINTS

Charles Curtis MW - Decanter

Expressive cherry fruit, with floral notes, a silky texture and plenty of finesse. The tannins are supple, yet firm enough to support the fruit. A lovely wine, produced from 0.35ha in Cazetiers using 50% whole clusters in the ferment. Leroux comments that the stems will absorb some of the sugar, and that with this process it is possible to lose a half-degree of alcohol.

Neal Martin - Vinous

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a slightly stemmy bouquet (around 20% whoe bunch), dark berry fruit laced with cold tea, just a slight beetroot note emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, firm grip, fine depth with a crisp finish. Very fine. Points: 89-91
