Under the guidance of patriarch Jean Duseigneur, abandoned plots were transformed into thriving vineyards in Lirac. With limited resources and a family to provide for, Jean took a traditional approach to farming, prioritizing the health of the soil and the vines. This dedication to organic farming, coupled with a lack of access to chemicals, set Domaine Duseigneur on a path towards sustainability from its very beginning.
Today, the Domaine is run by Jean's son, Bernard Duseigneur. With a total of 28 hectares of land under his command, including nine in Chateauneuf and the rest spread across Lirac and Laudin, Bernard continues the family's legacy with a deep commitment to honouring the terroir and passing on their knowledge to future generations. The average age of the vines is an impressive 50-60 years old, with some rare gems dating back 135 years and producing a mere 800 bottles per year.
In 2002, under Bernard's leadership, Domaine Duseigneur began implementing biodynamic techniques, and three years later, they received Ecocert certification. This unwavering dedication to the health of their vineyards results in wines that truly reflect their unique terroir.
