Lenton Brae have a consistent style across the reds. From entry to the top. Plummy and generous. That’s the common string. Ripe dark fruits and bramble. Blackberry compote, lead pencil and slate. An enjoyable wine. The palate is medium-bodied and once again fruit-focused. This is a safe wine in shelves full of wild cards. A go-to. Enjoyable. Drink on a Wednesday after a hard day at work. It’s sure to wash away the blues.

Jane Faulkner - Halliday Wine Companion

A bright, dark red hue. Youthful aromas and flavours, slightly unevolved, with upfront fruit, all cassis, mulberries and cranberries plus fruit pastilles. Intriguing aromas of pine needles with some smoky paprika and bay leaves, yet the mid-weighted palate is layered with textural tannins and tangy acidity. Good drink at this pricepoint.

The 2023 Cabernet Merlot hails from an excellent vintage in Western Australia. It was mild and long and devoid of any/many serious challenges, and from an observational perspective, it has resulted in some of the greatest wines being produced in this state's modern history. So here, the 2023 Cabernet Merlot is lean and firm, both aromatically and structurally on the palate. The length of flavor is good, however, and it shows the promise of this young wine's potential, should it be given the opportunity to breathe either in a decanter or a big glass. I find the tannins a little hard at this stage—perhaps that will change in the glass. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
