Many winemakers create a more complex wine by blending two or more types of grapes to create a designer taste experience for wine lovers. With a red blend wine, a winemaker can enhance the flavour, colour, aroma, body, and finish by selecting a grape strong in the feature they want to enhance to add to the main grape used in the blend.
For example, if a winemaker wants a smoother, more aromatic wine, they may add a small percentage of Merlot. If the winemaker wants to increase the tannin concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet Franc may help.
Pairing Red Blend Wine
Cracka Wines has a large range of red blends to suit every taste. From their Chianti blends that pair with rustic Italian dishes and pizzas, to some of the more complex blends. Such as the fruit-forward blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Shiraz from Geoff Merrill, we have just the perfect one for you.
Red blends make a great choice for dinner parties or picnics at which you have guests with varying tastes. Most wood- or charcoal-grilled red meats, ever-popular for summer outings, go with blended red wines. They also make great gifts. If you’re not sure which blend is right for your needs, our expert customer support staff know these red blends inside and out. Just tell them what you’re looking for and they can recommend a wine that will hit all the right notes. Order a case or a few bottles of your favourite red blend wine today.
