There's something about this that smells so Italian, the lifted red fruit bursting out of the glass, showing a touch of balsamic, honey roasted figs, fresh figs, apple skin, cherry liqueur, but it's really light and crunchy, not heavy at all, with a tangy finish. It's great to see this under-the-radar appellation, which lives somewhat in the shadows of its cousin Chianti, really rise to the top.I'm a big fan of aubergine parmigiana and this would be the perfect pairing.
