Tyrrells Winemakers Selection Vat 47 Chardonnay 2024

If its not one of Australia's most decorated Chardonnay's of all time, it's certainly one of the most unique. Hunter fruit, through and through, with 50+ year old vines sourced from the legendary Short Flat vineyard. A rival for Burgundy in structure, and the Napa in boldness.

Tasting Notes

Stonefruit and creaminess on the nose, with a touch of ginger spice from the oak. The palate brings grapefruit citrus and a lingering rich fruit sweetness, with textural, savoury notes from the slight solids ferment giving it lovely grain. Balanced throughout by the hallmark Vat 47 acid structure.

Product Highlights

Australia’s most awarded Chardonnay? This one’s most definitely in the conversation. The 2024 Vat 47 is a Hunter masterclass in inherent tension, balancing a warmer year's generous layers with a striking fruit concentration and a serious line and length.

All the fruit comes from Tyrrell’s legendary Short Flat vineyard, planted by Murray Tyrrell in 1968. It’s a name that pops up on top-tier restaurant wine lists across the country for a reason. If you’re looking for a Chardonnay that can rival Burgundy in structure while staying true to its Hunter Valley roots, this is it.
