Terre a Terre Crayeres Vineyard Reserve 2021

Built for the very long haul, this Cabernet blend from Australian winemaking royalty, reminds of the fine wines of Bordeaux's Right Bank, with a length and power that signals that it should easily make it to a third decade (if you can keep your hands off the wine). A true antipodean 1st growth of the future.

Tasting Notes

Rich and powerful, with layers of ripe black plum, blueberry, sour cherry and blackberry, complemented by dark chocolate, mocha, dried spice and hints of rose petal. The palate is plush and concentrated, with firm, powdery tannins, fresh citrus acidity and notes of cedar, clove and salted liquorice. Long, complex and beautifully structured, with excellent ageing potential.

Product Highlights

Fast becoming one of the ultimate statements in Australian wine and its ageability, the Terre a Terre Crayere Reserve has a remarkable pedigree which brings together over two centuries of winemaking knowledge and experience through the Bizot family of Champagne Bollinger and the Croser family of Petaluma, Croser and Tapanappa fame.

And it shows, through a classic complexity and structure. This is a twenty-five plys year cellaring wine that can match up to anything Bordeaux can dish out.

It has had the Rolls-Royce treatment since the day it was picked, including aging for 22 months in 75 percent new oak. What also elevates it from the local competition is an addition of 20 percent Cabernet Franc, adding even greater complexity to the traditional Cabernet Shiraz blend. It’s already five years old, but still a baby with decades in the tank.

This wine is the real deal, a complete package of fruit complexity, power and structure that’s well on the way to becoming an Australian icon. It is no surprise, then, that the wine media have fallen in love...
