It's finely scented on the nose with golden peach, pineapple, lemon curd and lime peel aromas, leading to a wonderfully flavoursome palate offering juicy fruit intensity with elegant sweetness and bright acidity. Charming and splendidly balanced with a lengthy, refreshing finish.

Shanteh Wale - Halliday Wine Companion

A botrytis riesling with 105g/L RS. Deeply intense musk, jasmine flowers and orange rind. Sesame praline, baked cookie dough and toasted oats. Candied lemon zest and ginger tea. The palate shows its riesling acidity and feels sultry and sweet without being cloying. A touch of marigold and honey snaps on the finish. A nicely balanced sweet wine.

Ray Jordan - Winepilot

A luscious late harvest wine showing how good this style can be in New Zealand. The longer hang time on the vine allows the sugar and acid balance to be spot on. Concentrated lemon essence on the nose and palate with a floral perfumed lift. It’s a sweet style but the acid balance ensures it does not finish cloying. Nice wine.

The perfect film pairing for the 2022 Riesling Operation: Late Harvest is Paddington (although I prefer Paddington 2): it's a sweet, marmalade sandwich-flavored wine. Botrytis flavors of celery join the marmalade fest with a touch of peach. While sweet, this is a little flat on the finish. The 2024 lacks complexity and the flavors fade relatively quickly. Enjoy this young for its fruitiness—I can't see time improving this.
