Light ruby in colour with excellent clarity and brightness. The aroma shows red cherry, wild strawberry and subtle earthy notes, with hints of white pepper and gentle spices. The palate is ripe and silky, with firm tannins, bright acidity and excellent balance. Pure, well-defined red fruit sit at the core including raspberry and cherries, while gentle savoury complexity builds through the mid-palate, giving the wine depth and weight. The finish is long and fresh with the red fruits and subtle savouriness lingering. A well-composed Pinot Noir that combines finesse, purity and drinkability.

I tasted this alongside a far higher priced pinot noir (double the price in fact) and this wine won the day by a margin. This is a ripper of a Pinot Noir. It's cherried and sinewy and drifted with autumn leaf notes, and it has a touch of satin to its texture too. Sweet-sour cherry, woodsmoke and undergrowth characters play minor roles but, in doing so, emphasise this wine's complexity. Excellence lives here.

Part of the attractively labelled Tasmanian range, this is a light, fresh and attractive style of Pinot Noir destined for early drinking. The colour is a pale blood red. On the nose we have notes of raspberries, dried herbs, animal flesh, red fruits and dry vegetation. There are hints reminiscent of roast beef on the finish. The wine has persistence and fine tannins to match the sleek texture. To be enjoyed over the next two to three years.
