Huon Hooke - The Real Review

Fresh aromas of iced pastries and a little touch of creamy lees, the palate lemon, citrusy and bracingly crisp, with the acidity bared for the world to see, unencumbered by liqueuring. Rivettingly fresh and bright and zesty. The palate line is superb and the finish extends out long and full of energy. A delicious wine and it would be great with oysters. (Zero dosage, otherwise same wine as the Brut Reserve)

A creamy and round-textured Champagne with a pretty back bone of phenolics and acidity. It’s medium-to full-bodied with layers melted together and a flavorful finish. Attractive bitter lemon at the end. 1/3 pinot noir, 1/3 chardonnay and 1/3 pinot meunier.

Pale straw yellow in colour with silvery reflections. The nose is delicate, with hints of fennel seed, fresh citrus zest and delicate stone fruit, underpinned by fine butter crumble. The palate is taut and precise, initially linear with juicy acidity and clear minerality. Delicate notes of blossom honey and a saline hint of fleur de sel on the finish. A versatile food wine.

Creamy on the palate, fine acid structure, fresh nuances of ripe pear, elegant and well lasting, delicate notes of brioche on the finish, yellow apple in the aftertaste, a multi-faceted food companion.
