From a biodynamic venture in Côte des Bar, the Pinot Noir country. 100% Chardonnay from Montgueux, a lonely chalky hill located mid-way between Côte de Sézanne and the centre of the Aube department. It includes vintages 2013, 2014, 2015, some barrel fermentation, no dosage and was disgorged 26/06/2016. I like that it’s not called Blanc de Blancs. Perhaps because it’s more than just a sparkling white from whites. All the things that you love about Champagne are here. Fresh brioche, baked apples, pears, preserved lemon. It has a driving crisp acidity and hints of marzipan and white chocolate with a chalky texture and lingering bread dough notes. Freshness with secondary complexity, high energy and a long finish. What else? It’s a 100% satisfaction for me.
