Tasting Notes

The wine colour is medium intensity and has a delicate red to purple hue. The aroma is fresh and intense with macerated strawberry and complex spice, very pure and intriguing Pinot varietal character. Chinese five spice and cedar aromas complete the unique Foggy Hill terroir character from a small crop, concentrated vintage. The flavours are quite powerful with the sweet fruit core offset by a significant savoury tannin and mouthfeel and a lasting aftertaste. It is obvious that fruit and tannin prevail over a very moderate alcohol of 12.7%.

Product Highlights

This is a stunning Pinot Noir from Brian Croser and it’s thoroughly unique to its site - which is the whole point! In fact, this particular vineyard put the region on the map for outstanding Pinot. Today, the Fleurieu is celebrated for the variety.

The 2024 vintage in the Fleurieu Peninsula was particularly cool and windy, leading to a tiny harvest. But the one-third of the vineyard that was harvested at perfect ripeness, and in perfect condition, has created a sublime Pinot. Indeed, this is a cracking wine!

This Mystery Fleurieu Pinot Noir 2024 will drink beautifully for eight years and more. Absolutely delicious, and testament to the winemaking brilliance of Brian Croser. Simply put, he has rewritten the playbook on premium terroirs and single-vineyard precision.  Particularly fitting that he’s also picked up Decanter Magazine’s "Man of the Year," and Officer of the Order of Australia along the way.
