Very cool, sleek and precise, this has raciness and crystalline purity. Amazing energy and wet-stone minerality are packed into the incredibly sleek, focused, light-bodied palate. Very slowly the white tree fruit and spring flower aromas emerge as the wine aerates in the glass. Enormous aging potential. Limited production. Drink from release.

The 2024 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett #17 is alive with a flinty reduction and a touch of slate, but it does not give much more away at this stage. The palate is beautifully citric, taut and salty. There is something strait-laced about this. It sinks deep into the blue Devonian slate of the Sonnenuhr, expressing linearity and elegance. This is unbending and so clean. It is undeniable and pure. The 2024 is utter class. (Off-dry)
