Product Highlights
International Women’s Day is a good excuse to acknowledge something we’ve known for a while.
Some of our favourite wines are being made by women.
Across the fine wine space especially, more and more of the bottles we rate, argue about, and reorder quickly are being made by women. Not as a trend. Not as a statement. Just because they’re excellent.
This pack brings six of them together.
Six wines from some of the most exciting female winemakers in Australia right now. From Halliday’s Winemaker of the Year to small-batch cool climate specialists, each bottle here earned its place the same way any great wine does - by being very good.
2024 Heirloom Alcazar Castle Pinot Noir
Elena Brooks is one of our favourites. The scores keep stacking up, but it’s her touch with varieties that stands out. This Adelaide Hills Pinot delivers purity, balance and poise. 94 points, plus gold and trophy honours.
2023 Yelland & Papps Vin De Soif GMC
Barossa through and through, just without the famous family surname. Susan Papps started in a bottle shop, worked her way up the hard way, and built her own award-winning winery. This wine sums it up - energetic, generous and full of character.
2021 Penny’s Hill Footprint Shiraz
Penny’s Hill sits comfortably at the serious end of McLaren Vale. When the fruit calls for richness, Alexia Roberts doesn’t hold back. Powerful, polished Shiraz that scored 96 points and stands alongside the Vale’s big names.
2023 Sapling Yard Pinot Noir
Carla Rodeghiero works small and keeps it that way. Limited Tumbarumba fruit means obsessive focus on detail. The result is Pinot Noir that’s elegant, finely tuned and never overdone. The only downside is how little of it exists.
2022 Penley Estate Steyning Cabernet Sauvignon
Kate Goodman, Halliday Winemaker of the Year 2024, is one of Australia’s most respected Cabernet specialists. This is textbook Coonawarra - structured, precise and powerful. A 96 point Cabernet that shows exactly why she’s so highly regarded.
2021 Hesketh GAR Cabernet Shiraz
Keeda Zilm has serious pedigree. Custodian of John Vickery’s methods and a respected winemaker in her own right. She’s also the force behind Hesketh taking out our 2025 Red Wine of the Year with this very wine. Multiple 95 point scores say plenty.
