The vineyard triumphs yet again, with the 2022 vintage showing distinctive savoury Eden Valley character wrapped in lean, sinewy muscle. An especially complex nose shows pretty violets over darkest blackberry framed in fresh sage and bay leaf. Good winter rains and a strong fruit set followed by a long ripening season and late harvest has ensured strong acid retention, promoting a silky slide through plush primary fruits filling the mid-palate. Despite its generosity, the seamless integration of its components results in elevated elegance. It finishes with a grand climax of tobacco, cedar and cracked black pepper notes, tightly wound around sturdy tannins that will promote long cellaring.
