Of course, more going on: the spice mix, the bresaola/reduction adding a savoury tone and fresh herbs. The palate is beautifully composed and even, with supple if textural tannins and bright acidity leading this to a long finish.

This wine provided one of those “gosh the flavours are still going” moments. This is elite juice for a completely reasonable price. There’s a depth to this wine, courtesy of cherry-plum fruit, but then there are ample spice, mineral, woodsmoke and smoked meat characters too. The extra linger of flavour, carried along on rails of silken, fine-grained tannin, is all the emphasis you could ever need to confirm the wine’s quality.
