Aromas: Fresh lemon zest, clementine, Granny Smith apple, white peach, and flinty wet stone (petrichor). Palate: Tense, medium-bodied, and vibrant with high acidity, subtle almond hints, and a long, saline, chalky finish.
Critic Reviews
Neal Martin - Vinous
The 2023 Chablis Vaucoupin 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with citrus peel, Granny Smith and light petrichor aromas. The palate is reductive on the entry, with moderate weight and a slightly honeyed finish that detracts slightly from its delineation. Afford this a year in bottle. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis.
Winemakers Notes
Vaucoupin has the charisma of the great Chablis. Nestled on the right bank of the Serein, in the commune of Chichée, this Premier Cru extends over 45 hectares.
