I misread the cursive Mt Lord as ‘My Lord’ and thought, clutching my pearls, that the $130RRP might extract that comment from some. But hey, a lot of runs on the board for this producer, an estate vineyard, so why not, ey? This feels like the stuff. Soft, swishy, dark cherry, cola, rose hip tea, bergamot tea, a touch of chinotto and and some lithe, silky stretches of cinnamon and clove spice licked at by mahogany. It feels luxurious and fancy, it fills the palate flush to the edges, it finishes with a gentle, woody and sweet spice stain. All the polish and opulence. Well done in its style and impressive generally.

Ripe, concentrated red fruit aromas with sweet spice, meaty and leafy asides. Tannins are evident and robust; tight and slaty on the finish. Award: Silver - DWWA 2026
