The 95-point Monty's Leap Mulberry Block shows just how far Great Southern Chardonnay has come over the last decade. Corryton Burge Limited Release brings fruit from the Grant Burge stable, while By Georges Old School Chardonnay, made by French producer Kriter, is probably the spiritual heart of the lineup. If there was ever a wine that summed up this collection, this would be it.

Highgate Barrel Selection - crafted by Liz Silkman - delivers it, while Elena Brooks' Sister's Run Babylon Block finds that sweet spot between generosity and freshness. Rich enough to stand up to roast chicken or pork, yet bright enough to keep you reaching for another glass.

Then there's Berrigan Limestone Coast Chardonnay, quietly doing what the region has always done so well: honest, full-flavoured Chardonnay with plenty of character.

Taken together, these wines make a compelling case for where Chardonnay is today.
