A lighter expression, though no less charming, with a silky glide and elegant form. The nose is a glorious, detailed mix of crushed green herbs, wild strawberries and fragrant oak, followed by a slinky palate packed with fine fruit flavours. The length is phenomenal, with an explosion of flavour on the close. Serve at cellar temperature to ensure that the palate remains focused and cleansing.

25% whole bunch and 25% new oak. Brokenwood make a lot of wine from a lot of places, though for me it’s all about their Hunter Valley wines. Looking around, I see that CM gave the 2024 89+ points, and Toni Patterson (Wine Companion) landed at 96 points. This 2025 also garnered a 96 point wine from Toni. Let’s just say that wine is a personal thing. We are all individuals! Anyway, our reviews of this wine are HERE. Poached strawberry, rhubarb, a distinctly smoky and cinnamon laced affair here. It’s dry, all smoking leaf litter, a blood orange and amaro tang, a slightly green sappy note, with grainy and slightly rustic tannin carrying on a finish of solid length. Quite the dry red in style, but has interest all the same. A curious wine in a way, a bit baked and tangy, but does have interest.
