The notation of “Batonnage” refers to the winemaking technique of stirring the yeast lees in barrels where the wine has fermented and matured. This Bremerton range is designed as an attractive premium offering, tapping into Bremerton’s best estate fruit of the season, here in 69/31 proportions of Shiraz and Malbec. It’s a wine with impressive energy, woody spices seasoning the bright cherry like fruit within, flavours rising, lifting then lingering in the finish in a moreish final arc. Plenty to like here in a very modern style.

Sam Kim - Wine Orbit

Gorgeously composed and expressed, the wine shows black and purple fruit richness, star anise, game, and cedar characters on the nose with a hint of cocoa complexity. The weighty palate exhibits excellent fruit intensity with spicy nuances, wonderfully complemented by velvety texture and beautifully melded tannins, finishing splendidly long and satisfying.

Ken Gargett - Winepilot

A blend of 69% Shiraz and 31% Malbec, this is supported by the use of French oak. The wine comes from the experimentation program run by the team, which has proved to be very successful. An opaque maroon hue here, the wine is full throttle when it comes to flavour and concentration. There are notes of chocolate, axle grease, exotic spices, smoked meats, plums, soy and cloves on the nose, along with a flick of oak still evident. A rich palate, generous, there are chewy tannins and a very long finish. The palate sees notes of espresso coffee and vegemite emerge. A most appealing wine and one sure to provide pleasure for the next ten to twelve years.

The potpourri characters are pronounced here. This is an attractive red wine with more than its fair share of character. Blackberry, leather, peppercorns and toast, with earth and mint notes rippling throughout. It’s a good wine; it’s a touch minerally too, which is always good. Structure and flavour are in harmony here.
