Olive Tree Hill is made from own-rooted MV6 Pinot Noir planted in 1976. As the oldest Pinot Noir vines on the property, this block consistently produces low yields of small, concentrated berries. The rows run east-west and are slightly terraced on a north-facing slope, giving the vines excellent sun exposure. For almost fifty years, it has delivered Pinot Noir of depth, structure, and now, serious old vine power.
Handpicked fruit was fermented in open-top fermenters, with a portion of whole cluster layered through the ferments. The wine spent 10 days on skins before being pressed to French oak hogsheads, of which 40% was new. Malolactic fermentation occurred naturally, and the wine remained untouched, on lees, through maturation for 10 months prior to blending and bottling.
