Fermented, aged on skins for six months in 800L clay amphora, basket pressed, matured for a further six months in amphora. A first for the producer, this amphora-bred sangiovese is a real eye-opener. There is a delicacy about it, a fineness in detail, offering a different side to the grape while remaining inescapably varietal. Sweet fruited in redcurrant, cherry and raspberry, underscored by mountain herbs and rose petal florals. The longer it is open, the more it reveals. Fine-textured, fine-tannined, it doesn't speak loudly, but there is real drive to this wine before finishing on a sour-cherry astringent note. Give it air and see it evolve.
