Winemaking Notes
The 2025 Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is made entirely from Medhurst Estate fruit from 24 year old vines. All the fruit was handpicked and destemmed into small open fermenters for cold soak maceration. During fermentation, the must was pumped over twice per day with some light plunging towards the end of ferment to ensure optimum extraction. The wine spent 12 days of skins and was pressed to tank and then racked to French oak barriques, hogsheds and puncheons (18% new) where it spent 8 months in barrel.
Vintage Conditions
An early flowering was followed by fantastic growing conditions and the vines were carefully managed to create an optimal canopy ensuring a perfectly ripe crop. The resulting fruit was some of the best we have seen with fabulous quality across all of our varieties. As usual, Vintage processing was an incredibly busy time, but the quality of the harvest has resulted in wines of a very special character that we look forward to seeing in bottle when the time is right. We are excited about what 2025 Vintage has in store!
