Generously flavoured and richly textured chardonnay from vines planted back in 1985 and supplemented with some Bernard clones of ’95, ’76 and ’96. Notes of lemon meringue and brioche with a little quince paste on the nose. The palate is deliberately textured, but still with a controlling fine mineral acidity. Lemon meringue and quince paste, with a trace of butterscotch complexity. A nice final savoury edge completes a very tidy wine.

Lots of flavour and character here. Vanilla cream meets peach and nectarine leads the perfume with dashes of cinnamon and salted pistachio. The palate a little more caramel and toffee apple, a gingery undertow, more of the stone fruits and vanilla cream. Soft and supple in texture with a long afterglow of spice and riper-fruit character. Richness and charm with a pluck of freshness uplifting. It should lush up nicely with time in cellar in the medium-term.
