100% grenache. Thoughtful winemaking here, with a small percentage of juice fermented in new oak before being blended with the balance of the wine, which was fermented in neutral oak with lees stirring for added texture and interest. It leads with strawberry, pomegranate and grapefruit pith. Royal Gala apple, too, before it leans into a field of savoury Provençal herbs. This is an ideal rosé to serve alongside the main protein for leisurely lunches in the sun.

The home page of Atlas wines is quite a thing. There’s a picture of winemaker Adam Barton doing a bit of a ‘rockstar’ pose, phone to the ear. I wonder who he was talking to at the time? He looks a bit bored, so maybe he was on hold to Telstra, or maybe a bank or similar. This is Grenache from 80 year old vines with a bit of wood in the mix. It’s spicy, strawberry and watermelon granita, a bit of aniseed and rosy perfume. It’s juicy, raspberry with fresh mint, a little grainy grip to the wine, pink grapefruit and cut fennel, some dustiness too, and pink peppercorns, subtle creaminess, with a finish of good length, a tangerine tang to close. Very nice. Proper rosato, made with intent.

Angus Hughson - Vinous

The 2025 Rosé Clare Valley, which fermented in old oak, shows good vibrancy and sleek aromas of rose petal and cranberry with a savory, woody edge. Dry and gently weighted with a chalky texture and zesty acidity, it is fun and delivers decent complexity and length.
