Dave Brookes - Halliday Wine Companion

A blend of 60/21/19% shiraz/mataro/grenache that sports a bright magenta-splashed colour and notes of juicy damson plum, cranberry, raspberry and boysenberry fruits. Hints of ginger spice, purple floral tones, fruit-and-nut chocolate, tapenade and earth. Bright, pure fruit that has a crunchy line, with fine, chalky tannins and plenty of energy on the exit.

Shiraz (60%), Mataro (21%), Grenache (19%). Smells quite a lot like Nero to me with blue and black fruit, dark cherry, black jelly bean, iron, and dried herbs. A juicy black fruited affair with a little ripe raspberry, a little bit earthy, sooty tannin,  balanced acidity, a twist of orange peel closes out a finish of good length. Hearty and full of character. Excellent.
