Lots to enjoy on the flavour front, from white nectarine and citrus to the dusting of spices. Bright acidity, feather-light lees and oak inputs add to the appeal. It’s retrained yet not lean, vibrant, zesty and tangy. Not complex but refreshing as much as satisfying.

Aromas of lemon butter, grapefruit, stone fruit and flint. The medium-bodied palate has a generous texture and bright acidity, leading into a creamy, fruit-driven finish with nice minerals and a touch of baking spices. Well-balanced.

Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front

This is steelier, more pebbly and fresher than you might normally expect of a Stonier chardonnay. It also has a keen saline edge. It tastes of pears, nectarines and tonic water and while it has all the flavour to satisfy, it has a racy directness to it. There’s a flash of cedarwood oak but it’s not a major influence. This is buzzing right now but it will be a better drink in 12 months time.

The 2024 Chardonnay is open-knit, with composed aromas of nectarine, ginger snaps, a touch of green mango and a gentle oak backbone. Creamy-textured and fleshy to start, it builds tangy, drying acidity and a little phenolic bite to tighten up the finish. This refreshing Chardonnay has some aging potential.
