From Hilltops, the back label lets us know that barbera and nebbiolo go together like peas and carrots, bread and butter and David Beckham and tighty-whities. Of course! Bryan Martin in tighty-whities, well, there’s a touch of Groundskeeper Willie to him I guess. Crisp and slurpy at once, I said ‘that’s delicious’ as I finished my first taste and that theme continued as I reviewed. Super easy drinking, brittle if not crisp edges, tart cherry, cranberry, touch of Campari, a pleasing, slightly bitter finish. Great energy, a thirst-quenching nature to the wine, fine, chalky tannins lending freshness too. Oh yes, yum, terrific drinking.
