Wonderfully fruited with gorgeous complexity, the wine exhibits intense black and purple fruit, accompanied by toasted spice, hazelnut, and rich floral notes. The palate delivers excellent weight and a plump mouthfeel, splendidly framed by plush texture and finely infused tannins, finishing impressively long and structured with sophistication and refinement.

What was a mighty good season in South Australia has been captured quite beautifully with this Shiraz out of Currency Creek. On the nose, there are some beautiful aromatics of perfumed plum, ripe berry, with some subtle blue fruit influences. On the palate, there’s a spicy licoricey character. It’s so supple and smooth, with generous lifted flavours that extend sumptuously to a very long finish. I could drink a fair bit of this wine.

Tony Love - Winepilot

An upscale release out of the Beklyn vineyard in South Australia’s southern coastal Currency Creek region. This goes big from the outset, not surprising given its 15.5% abv measure. It’s all about compote of ripe dark berries and dark chocolate, all its parts evenly set with a subtle charry background. Big and cuddly, warm and woolly coated in its tannin profile, there’s a hearty wintry presence to its personality.

Katrina Butler - Halliday Wine Companion

Blueberry, fresh plum, blackberry and mulberry all tied up with a licorice leather bow. Some black pepper spice, Sichuan, and clove lend a spicy edge to the muddled, juicy black fruit. The tannins are fine here, the palate soft. Perhaps it leaves one yearning for length, but this will do very well next to lamb shanks and the like.
