Darker ruby toned, fragrant with high-toned crimson fruits and a Middle Eastern savoury herb and spice seasoning: oregano, sumac, sage, red peppercorn, and a pop of whole bunch for some lift and slide into the palate. This is where the wine finds a sophisticated elegance to its character, and also where a surprise is revealed, offering an explanation for its distinctive fragrance – a 5% inclusion of gewurztraminer grapes after a number of rogue vines were accidentally left in the Tomich family’s Adelaide Hills vineyard while new Pinot Noir grafts were established several years ago. So, why not let the unusual block tell its own truth, which it does via a suggestion of dark rose and black pepper along with familiar varietal notes of black cherry fruit. A wine with a madly unique story and deliciousness to match it.

A wild journey through strawberry fields, into the shrubbery of raspberry bracken and deep into pine needles and the dappled light of a forest. So is the winding nature of the aromas of this wine. It’s quite deeply pigmented and a pool of spice and growing things. Some juniper and bay leaf, cassis and bramble. The palate has a halo of Acai fruit followed by willow stem and shiso leaf. I could go on and on but instead I’ll say this isn’t a cookie cutter wine, it’s a jigsaw of flavours, neatly tucked with lingering acidity and some real sinewy tannins. Curious to the fruit source because it has some stuffing and projectile promise throughout its bones. What a surprise package. Drink with confit duck, cavolo nero and kampot pepper speckled throughout. Drink now.

The palate is silky-smooth, delivering excellent weight and a refined texture, culminating in a wonderfully long and velvety finish. It's stylish and complex, offering terrific drinking.

Beautifully styled and expressed, showing sweet cherry, floral, clove, and nutmeg nuances, leading to a finely flowing palate that's juicy and beautifully rounded. Well framed by fine-grained tannins, finishing harmonious and refined.

This has some mojo. Frisky with red cherry and tart raspberry fruit characters. A cooling, wild botanical, vermouth-like complexity runs through the wine. Some stemmy, herbal nuance and a bit of white pepper and game meat in there, too. Fresh in the palate, with a tartness and refreshing red fruit profile. Then the herbal afterglow kicks in with a little white pepper. Bright, pure, delicious.

Only 1800 bottles made/released. This is a firm, well-fruited Pinot Noir with macerated red cherry flavours as the main driver but with ample floral, roasted spice and mint characters threaded throughout. There’s a nuttiness to this wine too, which combines well with the gentle creaminess of this wine’s texture. Firm, al dente tannin should help this wine age well too; it certainly has all the components in place to have it perform well in the cellar. 91 points.
