A full-bodied chardonnay style, light straw with characters of juicy peach, nectarine, baked apple and custard apple. Hints of crushed herbs, soft spice, crème fraîche, apple pastries, wildflowers, marzipan, vanillin oak and stone. High tensile acidity drives the wine along, and the finish is sustained with a decent stretch of flavour and tautly defined fruit.

A focused, well-made chardonnay with an enticing nose of spiced apples, warm herbs and cedar. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity. Linear and tactile with a long, flavorful finish. Sustainable.

Rebecca Gibb MW - Vinous

The Chardonnay Valhalla is usually big and full-bodied, but in 2024 it's relatively light-bodied, athletic and focused with a salty finish. In its youth, it derives a nutty/matchstick character from its wild fermentation and 11 months on lees. Underneath, the firm palate offers fresh nectarine fruit. Its line and drive make sense given that there was no malo, which lends it a shape more typical of cooler climates.
