Grenache, graciano, touriga and mataro. A medium-weighted deal, though big on florals, all powdery rose, duskily scented, and violets, iris, some North African spices filtering in. Pale, dark fruits, wild raspberry, bing cherry, fresh blueberry, a hint of red apple. There’s a twang of natural freshness here, a vibrancy that allies keenly with the brightness of fruit, but there’s never any confection at this address, rather a compact between savoury, food-apt structure and that energetic, fruitful palate intro. The outro is sapidly moreish, long and weightless.

Grenache, Graciano, Touriga, and Mataro. South Australian Touriga is a funny grape variety for me in that I often find a signature of chlorine, like pool tablets. I find it kind of hard to get past sometimes, though that’s likely just a personal foible. It does seem to dissipate with some time in glass though. Dark cherry, raspberry, spice, Dutch liquorice, purple flowers, brandy snaps, and yes, a bit of a chlorine top note that settles down with some air. It’s medium-bodied, dark cherry juice and brown spice, a little bit meaty too, a grainy feel to open-weave tannin, with a firm earthy finish of solid length. Interesting wine, perhaps a little hard as at now, but should settle.
