Pinot noir sourced from the Moon Block of Domaine Thomson's 14ha Lowburn estate. Bright, deep ruby with characters of red and dark plum, wild strawberry and dark cherry fruits over hints of M edina spice, crushed herbs, pressed wildflowers, charcuterie, leaf litter, dried porcini and earth. Some nice space and detail on the palate with a savoury lean to its travel. Bright, saline acidity, defined, silty tannins and a lingering, complex finish.

The 2024 Explorer Pinot Noir is reductive upon opening and leads with cherry, apple, strawberry and tapenade. The wine has attractive dark qualities to it, and the reduction carries through onto the palate. There's a hot tarmac note here that confirms this. The fruit is grown in Lowburn in Central Otago. There are notes of leather, licorice and cocoa, and it's dusty to close. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
