Lifted elderflowers, white nectarines and swaying mulberry leaf. This hits on those just-tropical notes but with the growing of foliage and pea tendrils the variety is known for. It is symmetrical in fruit and herb, with a prickle of bitter melon and skin texture and some riverstone. A mineral wine with plenty of character and a slippery, fine line of acidity. There is finesse and purpose here.

Wild fermentation, a little bit of barrel-aging on lees and a 10% addition of Sémillon in the blend make the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc far from your stereotypical Marlborough style. This wine plays on its clarity, texture and freshness. It's aromatically subtle, with green notes meeting nectarine and blackcurrant. While the region's natural freshness abounds, the wine retains a round shape and natural curve before being sewn up by a thread of acidity. There are layers of interest here that will keep you coming back.

The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is far from ordinary: this is wild fermented, with 30% of the wine fermented in neutral oak. There's also 10% Sémillon in the blend, which may account for its grassiness alongside floral, lemon, lime and pineapple notes. It has a restrained, elegant and finely perfumed style with a tender mid-palate, fine line and mouthwatering freshness. A little more concentration would elevate this further.

90% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Semillon. Quince, passionfruit, lime, snow pea and thistle. It’s a bit of a richer style here, a bit lactic, some lime juice and a sort of cheesy and snow pea thing, a bit of tang, some tonic water stuff, maybe a bit greasy in texture, but no shortage of flavour. It’s maybe a bit too green bean in character, but a good wine all the same.

The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc leads with green capsicum and sweet pea, green apple, oxalis and lemongrass. It's a little bitter, but this does give it a complexing edge on the palate, which serves to further emphasize the phenolic structure. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
