Product Highlights
Even if you went to the Pyrenee’s, you probably haven't laid eyes on this vineyard. Tucked into the rolling slopes of the Warrenmang Valley near Moonambel, this cool-climate pocket is cloaked in state forest. Box gums mark its edges, and vines climb in quiet seclusion.
It’s a true hidden gem.
But if you’re a wine lover, there’s a good chance you’ve already tasted part of its story – without ever knowing it.
This is a vineyard that has fed legends. This shy corner of the Pyrenees suits Syrah and Cabernet beautifully. Michel Chapoutier once sourced Syrah from here for his premium Australian projects. Jamsheed used it for their 100% wholebunch Syrah. Owen Latta folded it into his blends. Josh Cooper & Cobaw Ridge continue to draw from it, for both their Clarets and Sauvignon Blanc.
It's a kind of holy temple for cool-climate Syrah. And after years of watching others take centre stage, the vigneron and owner behind this quiet parcel of fruit decided it was time to step forward.
Enter the 2023 Mystery Reserve Pyrenees Syrah – valued at an astonishing $110 a bottle – dressed in a dark, brooding heavyweight bottle and finished with a luxurious wax seal.
It’s all here – the hallmarks of great Rhône-inspired Syrah. Beautiful now, with the poise and structure to reward a decade in the cellar (if that’s your thing).
Of course, you won’t see the label. That’s part of the deal – a long-standing handshake agreement between the winemaker and our buying team to keep this vineyard’s legacy protected. The brand stays hidden until the package arrives on your doorstep, but the wine speaks clearly.
