Sam Kim - Wine Orbit

It's delightfully ripe and fragrant on the nose with sweet plum, cherry, olive, and nutmeg aromas. The palate displays juicy fruit intensity with supple texture and fine tannins, making it smooth and immediately appealing.

Angus The Bull invariably over-delivers on price, and this charmer of a young Merlot is no different. What’s more, there is the promise that it is the perfect partner with red meat, no idle boast with such a strong hearted Merlot at the helm. A ripe, dark fruited Merlot definitely in its happy place with black fruits, plums to the fore backed by a distinct, attractive earthiness with liquorice and spice. Ripe, muscular tannins roll through carrying with them some good drinking – or eating and drinking – pleasure. Top price.

Jeni Port - Halliday Wine Companion

The concept behind this wine is stated on the back label: it is 'red meat's perfect partner'. It's hard to argue that it isn't, not with the warmth and richness of flavour married to a muscular tannin structure that is more than capable of taking on an Angus steak or rich protein. A merlot on steroids, and yet there is real charm to its black fruits and plum, its spice, its licorice, earth and smooth, accomplished finish. Fab price, too.
