Toni Paterson - Halliday's Wine Companion
Sourced from Rosehill's original vineyard (block RO-04), also known as Creek Block, 60–80m elevation, NE orientation, planted in 1946 by Maurice O'Shea. This site benefits from an aspect that promotes perfect ripening, extended time on the vine and protection from the elements. Hand picked and sorted grapes undergo whole-berry open-top fermentation, followed by maturation in large-format French oak. The result is a silky, supple, sweet-fruited wine with dark cherry flavours and exotic floral tones. It has remarkable mid-palate depth and inherent freshness. Counterintuitively, it shines brighter in a smaller tulip-shaped glass than in a large shiraz-specific one.
