Deep magenta/crimson with aromas of damson plum, blackberry and boysenberry fruits over baking spices, fruitcake, dark chocolate, white pepper, a fair lick of oak spice, licorice and earth. Deep and unctuous black fruits, layered with wood spice and vanillin oak. Fine, chalky tannins and a blackberry pastille note to the acidity.

13% new American oak and 87% seasoned American and French oak hogsheads. 10 to 142-year-old vines. Quite the range! It’s Valley Floor, but with 5% Eden Valley, which is a little less floory, so to speak. A hearty and traditional sort of wine, mocha and toasted coconut, blackberry and plum, perhaps a little extra spice from the cooler vintage. It’s full-bodied, some mint and liquorice, a salty sage perfume carries, and it’s quite nutty and coconutty, a bit earthy, with grainy tannin grip, acidity is a little bit twangy, and the finish offers solid length. It’s a bit four-square in a way, but delivers a fair amount of flavour.
