Malbec has been a winner in Langhorne Creek, and this one captures the highly scented aroma of spices and African violet, while the palate delivers with a soft and plush mouth feel loaded with ripe red fruits. It’s textural and rich with a delightful lift that takes it through to a beautiful finish. I love this style.

Gorgeously fruited and enticing, the wine shows blackberry, cake spice, smoked game, and assorted nut aromas on the nose. The succulent palate offers terrific weight and richly textured mouthfeel, leading to a persistent, flavoursome finish.

A good Malbec is always a joy to discover, as it is so often used as a blending component or given a small cameo role at best, but it seems to thrive in Langhorne Creek. The fruit used here was a block selection, all of which were kept separate during the winemaking process, before a final blending. The result is a wine that should attract anyone looking to see a top example of a local Malbec; anyone who loves wine which is chock-a-block full of flavour; and anyone who appreciates value. A vibrant purple/maroon hue, this really is a seriously good solo Malbec. The nose reveals notes of cassis, blackberries, black cherries, herbs and mulberries. There is still a flick of oak here but integration is proceeding extremely well. A wine of balance, focus and concentration, there is good energy and a seamless structure, finishing with excellent length. This is sure to sail through a decade, providing pleasure at all stages. Like it a lot. Cracking buying.

Malbec and Langhorne Creek – talk about a symbiotic relationship. Throw in the excellent producer Bremerton, and, well, it’s going to be a good outcome. A deep, dark garnet hue; fleshy ripe plums coated in cocoa, baking spices and woodsy spices via oak. The palate full bodied with densely packed tannins, quite robust yet a brightness within.

Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front
This is a well-powered release with good fruit, sound structure and slightly pronounced acidity. It tastes of plums, leather, iodine and citrus, creamy-cedarwood oak adding a modest slip of velvet. It all works well.
