A box of wines was delivered today with no notice, and while I’m appreciative of samples, gee, I’d rather be advised first. First World problems, for sure. RRP is listed on bottles though, so that’s good. Pelaverga can only be known by its name if it’s grown in Verduno. Fun fact! Strawberry raspberry jam, pepper, pencil shavings and new leather, and as ever with this producer, it’s a more hearty and fleshy expression of the grape variety. What it lacks in finesse, it makes up for in robust flavour, and while it carries some of the signature of the grape variety, it’s maybe a little too nutty and diffuse, lacking the tension of the best examples, and there’s something of a stewed spiced strawberry flavour on a dry and slightly bitter walnutty warm finish. Not a great example of this variety.
