A mighty impressive wine that Gordon sources from the shiraz powerhouse of WA. It's generous, it's supple, it's opulent but it's all controlled and balanced. Typical of the season and in the Jeremy Gordon style of winemaking. All those spicy plum, dark cherry, and even a little green olive work tirelessly on the nose. Once you delve into the palate, further riches are revealed supported by supple tannins and the obvious balance of fine-grained oak which never dominates. An excellent example of shiraz from Frankland.

Erin Larkin - Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2023 Frankland River Shiraz leads with a gorgeous nose that is bright, spicy, earthy and floral, one that speaks of both gravel ironstone and succulent fruit. I'd expect nothing less from the combination of sensational vintage and equally sensational fruit sourcing; still, it's gratifying to be proved right. On the palate, the wine is shaped by seamless tannins, the fruit an impressive display of purity and focus. This is a very good wine here. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Jane Faulkner - Halliday Wine Companion

Highly aromatic, and highly pleasing as a result. Florals, brown spices such as star anise, dark plums, dabs of cedary oak and more. The fuller-bodied palate is plush, soft almost, with pliable, velvety tannins, then a little grip on the finish. I preferred this over its reserve because there’s a savouriness within and obviously less oak.
