Product Highlights
Every year, we launch another suite of the Yarra Yering range of wines. And every year, we keep asking ourselves? What’s left for Yarra Yering to achieve when they’ve already achieved so much.
They are regarded, quite rightly, as the absolute benchmark winery of the Yarra Valley. The collector’s collectable. The cellar-staple, and a bastion of brilliance.
Established in 1969 by Dr Bailey Carrodus, on what is arguably the finest vineyard in the region, there’s not a cellar, or wine-taster in Australia who hasn’t fallen under the spell of a Yarra Yering wine.
Carrodus was a genius, inspired by the great wines of Europe and beyond, his fastidious and knowledgeable ways set the path for many of our greatest young winemakers to come. Yarra Yering was always the next-tier; the wine that we all want to make, if we had the talent, but know, we can never achieve.
Despite the sad passing of Bailey Carrodus in 2008, the legacy of Yarra Yering has rarely diminished.
Now stewarded by Sarah Crowe, who’s custodianship originally came with great expectation and responsibility, the Yarra Yering name is burning ever brighter.
And each year, where the limelight and attention from collector's falls on the Dry Red No.1 & Dry Red No. 2, it's often the Underhill that claims the biggest awards.
The 2022 is no exception, notching up some incredible Wine Of Show trophies:
Trophy Winner (The Angelo Puglisi Grand Champion Wine of Show), Royal Qld Wine Awards 2024
Trophy Winner (Best Red Table Wine of Show), Royal Qld Wine Awards 2024
Trophy Winner (Beast Shiraz Wine of Show), Royal Qld Wine Awards 2024
Trophy (Best Victorian Shiraz) 2023 Melbourne Royal Wine Awards
It's a single block Shiraz planted in 1973, and its evocative and vibrant, being the archetype of the cool-climate ‘Syrah’ style, groaning under the weight of dark berries, oriental spices and silken tannins. If you want the insiders line on the pick of the '22 Yarra Yering releases, this is it.
