34% Grenache Noir, 31% Carignan, 20% Cinsault, 8% Counoise 5% Shiraz and 2% Mourvèdre. As expected, Peter Fraser has paid close attention to the delicacy of these unique varieties and ensured the Shiraz and Mourvèdre were fermented separately and this has produced a wine full of enchantment. A real mosaic of brambly black fruits and wildly exotic red hibiscus and rose bud. Davidson plum, Acai and crushed black coal. Tannins are astute and stretch the length of the wine into the nether regions. A sappy rosemary stem with cocoa nibs rounds out the finish. This wine feels like its other worldly, delightfully nuanced and a real treat for adventurous drinkers, or those that appreciate wine that ticks all the boxes. Serve with Malaysian Lamb Rendang.

No RRP on the bottle, so I had to look it up. This is 34% Grenache,31% Carignan, 20% Cinsault, 8% Counoise, 5% Shiraz, 2% Mataro. A bit steely, a bit brambly, dried herb, spice, rosehip. It’s medium-bodied, savoury and grainy, all the wild herb perfume, red and blue fruits, a bit sappy and meaty, a cool feel to acidity, slate-like tannin, tangy and juicy to close, with a chalky finish of good length. All the grape varieties working in tandem. What a great and energetic glass of wine. Yum.
