”It does not stay still, it gently moves across the palate like sunlight over the course of a day.” 100 Points, Erin Larkin - Wine Advocate
What needs to be said about Lamella?
It's the rarest of the four wines. The one least seen, least available, and with the most pent up demand. Is Lamella the people's champion of the Standish troupe? Surely the run of perfect scores from Wine Advocate and James Suckling helps the cause. While always in very short supply, this years early 100 point score from Wine Advocate (a feat only achieved by 35 other Australian wines in history) will mark the 2022 Lamella as nothing short of an investment piece. Watch the price skyrocket on the secondary market. So what's in story for those fortunate enough to lay their hands on a bottle?
Nothing short of a miracle. This latest Lamella Shiraz is a wondrous wine that has few, if any peers in Australia. Sourced from the Hutton Vale vineyard in the Eden Valley (nestled neatly between Henschke's Hill of Grace, and Mount Edelstone vineyards), with a little touch of the original Stonegarden vineyard fruit that went into the first-ever vintage of Lamella) it is a Shiraz that outshines even the biggest of challengers from the area (that includes you H.O.G.). Where else on earth can you get so much latent power, precision and tannin definition in a wine that still seems poised and balanced? Dan Standish is the wonder kid and this is his best gear yet.
