This smells like a freshly prepared fruit salad, with some exotic-fruit notes alongside the citrus and stone fruit. On the medium-bodied palate there’s nothing superficial about this dry riesling, rather it shows excellent structure and wonderful texture. A touch of fine tannin neatly underlines the long, refined finish.

This is the village-level wine from Weil, mainly from younger parcels. It has pure fruit aromatics with citrus peel, stony lime, and hints of white flowers. The palate is concentrated with light minerality, framing juicy lime pulp, zippy spiced orange peel, and green mangoes with very zippy bright acidity to carry the fruit character to its finish.

The 2022 Kiedricher Riesling Trocken is pure yet intensely aromatic on the precise and focused, as always pretty polished and elegant nose that reveals ripe white stone fruit and citric aromas along with slightly flinty notes. This is denser and more expressive than the estate Riesling trocken. Round and intense yet also immediately bitter, with grapefruit flavors and other bitters, this is a wine with a good mid-palate, whereas the finish is rather short and unbalanced. There is more inner harmony in the estate wine, which I'd prefer if I had the chance to choose. The Kiedricher might improve with bottle age, and I will likely taste it again in context with the Grosses Gewächs from the Gräfenberg; on the other hand, I am convinced a great wine is harmonious even at such an early stage, even if still nervous or tight. 12.5% stated alcohol. From younger vines in the three crus and from the Wasseros, so from a more skeletal soil, the 2022 Kiedricher Riesling Trocken opens with a pure, refined and slightly flinty bouquet with ripe, finely concentrated fruit that represents the warm and sunny vintage and the more rainy autumn. Elegant, refined and balanced on the palate, this is a substantial, well-structured and finely crunchy structured Kiedricher with elegant, dense and juicy fruit and an intense, warm and supple finish. 12.5% stated alcohol.
