"Enjoyed. Must say it was a lot better the 2nd day probably because i didn't give it time to breathe when first opened."
They said a cool-climate Shiraz from NSW couldn’t outshine the big names. They were wrong. This Mystery Hilltops Shiraz has always defied expectations. In 2014, it became the first - and still the only - NSW winery to win the prestigious Great Australian Shiraz Challenge.
Then in 2016, it did it again, becoming the only single vineyard producer to win twice. Fast forward to 2024, and it’s still going strong, recently crowned “Most Successful Exhibitor” for the eighth time in ten years at the Canberra and Region Wine Show.
The 2022 vintage lives up to that legacy. With bright purple-red hues and heady aromas of summer berries, spice, floral notes and juicy plum, it’s full of energy and style. The palate is medium-bodied, layered with vibrant blood-red berries, a lift of viognier, and that signature Hilltops black pepper. It’s structured yet silky, with a long, bright finish.
It’s no surprise that it’s already picking up awards: Best Shiraz, Best Hilltops Region Wine, and Hilltops Wine of the Year at the 2023 Canberra & Region Wine Show. Add to that a Top Gold (96 pts) from the same show, two more 95-point Golds from the NSW Small Winemakers and Riverina Wine Show, plus Golds from the NSW Wine Awards and the 2024 Australian Cool Climate Wine Show.
This is a serious Shiraz with a proven track record.
