Fruit from Blewitt Springs old vines, about 90 years old, half destemmed and half with 15% whole bunches, both inoculated; matured in 2-year-old and older French hogsheads. Plushness prevails here, with ripe raspberries, strawberries, loganberries, plump red cherries and pomegranate molasses, but thereÕs also freshness to the profile. A little oak, pithy, grapey tannin and perky acidity support the fruit richness, a red licorice note trailing through the finish. ThereÕs a little headiness, but it comes with a purity of fruit expression.

A richly flavored, full-bodied grenache that is simply a bit too sweet and galumphing. Far off the contemporary zeitgeist of fresh and savory that marks the better wines of the region. Raspberry bon bon, sweet cinnamon oak spice, bergamot and some attractively bitter, toothsome tannins beyond. The alcohol is a touch too hot.
