The nose is deeply scented, with brooding aromas of blackcurrants, blood plums, ferric earth and spices. The palate is full-bodied with firmly integrated tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of mulberry bush, mocha, licorice and olive tapenade. Very powerful, with an underlying freshness and seamless tannins. Drinkable or hold.

Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front

The Heathcote Estate vineyard was certified organic in 2021. The word Organic now appears on the front label of this wine. There’s a lot of tannin here and it’s well integrated too. The’s pure plum flavour, and peppercorns, and juicy cherries, and slips of licorice, both red and black. This isn’t a particularly ‘big’ wine – a good thing of course – and it leans into both its juiciness and its savouriness. It’s the tannin though – grapey, almost squeaky – that makes you just want to grab the bottle and head off to dinner.

Faintly minty, it's scented with musky spices, lightly peppery blackberries, dark plums and redcurrants with a creamy background of chocolate/vanilla oak. Rather menthol-like on the palate, it's forward and firmish, but lacks a genuine core of freshness and vibrancy. Well made but missing real expression and a sense of place.
