Let’s see now. Ebenezer Cabernet (85%) with 5% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot. The non-Cabernet parts are from Nurioopta and Flaxman Valley. The Cabernet was planted in 1950. Blackberry, blackcurrant, mint, tobacco, praline and mocha. It’s medium to full-bodied, some sage and tobacco, black olive savoury things, again that praline and silky dark chocolate tannin (and flavour) with a juicy and perfumed finish of fine length, albeit slightly salty. That bit of extra grip of ironstone tannin on the finish is very pleasing.

A blend of 85% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot, 5% cabernet franc, 3% malbec and 2% petit verdot from across the subregions of Ebenezer, Nuriootpa and Flaxman Valley. Ripe blackberry and black cherry fruits with hints of cinnamon, clove, tobacco, olive tapenade, sage, cedar and cassis. An inflow of blackcurrant pastille on the palate lifts things up a notch, the tannins are fine and powdery, and there is a cassis-like flow on the exit.

This 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Head Red (with splashes of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot) is seamless and bright, with plush aromas of blackcurrant and fresh cedar with a leafy lift. It is sturdy, with a solid mix of fruit and tannins before an herbal, drying finish.
